The 3.6 mm diameter functions similarly to a 1/8 in. round cotton oil lamp wick and is suitable for many oil lamp wicks round configurations, but it is not intended for tiki torches. For best performance, fully soak the wick in fuel before lighting to ensure the fuel burns rather than the cotton fibers. Petroleum based fuels such as paraffin lamp oil are recommended, while vegetable oils, mineral oil, and alcohol should not be used. The wick should extend only slightly above the holder, as the flame will naturally grow within 5 minutes. If adjustment is needed, extinguish the flame and allow the metal collar to cool before handling. When performance declines, trim by twisting, pushing up, cutting off the charred portion, and untwisting to restore proper burn.
