This cork float features copper wire inserts that allow you to adjust the strength of the flame. Pulling up the end of the wire increases the flame. Pushing on the end of the wire moves it downward, thus reducing the flame to the desired level.

Traditional Cork Float with Cross Shape Pattern

Traditional cork float with a little handle for easy removal and placement in the vigil lamp. When you bend it up, it also makes it easy to replace the wick without touching the oil.

How to Use Vigil Oil Lamps

Prayer for Lighting a Vigil Lamp:

HOW TO USE: Place a wick into the cork float. Fill the glass half full with water, half full with oil and lit the wick. Please research more if this is your first time experience with vigil oil lamps!
Traditionally in Orthodoxy the vigil lamps are placed before an icon as a reminder that Jesus Christ is the light of the world and illumines our souls.
SAFETY TIPS: Never leave burning vigil lamps unattended. Refill the oil in your vigil lamp when one-quarter to one-third of the oil is used up. This will prevent the glass from overheating and causing unpleasant odors. Keep flammable items away from the lamps, especially above it. Candles placed on, or near tables, altars, or shrines, must be watched by an adult.
