★★★★☆ Solid budget smart lights, but slightly glitchy and colors are just okay
Overall, these Amazon Basics smart lights are a decent deal for the price, but they have a few quirks you should know about before buying.
First, they can be a little glitchy with the Amazon ecosystem. The funny thing is, they do always work when you give a command—the lights will switch on or off exactly like you asked—but sometimes Alexa or the app gets confused and claims the device isn't responding. It's mildly annoying to get an error message when the light clearly just turned on, but at least the lights themselves are doing their job.
Second, the color quality isn't super great. If you're looking for incredibly vibrant, rich, or highly accurate colors, you might be a bit disappointed. They work fine for basic ambient lighting, but they definitely lack that premium color pop you might get from more expensive brands.
For a budget setup, they are still a solid 4-star buy. Just keep your expectations realistic when it comes to the smart home integration feedback and the color spectrum.

I started with a more expensive product but I the app wasn't great and ultimately needed Alexa to do what I wanted. So returned for this. I have 2 of these in a room that doubles as my home office and workout room. I wanted different lighting for each scenario and the ability to have each light with different brightness setting. The Alexa app totally allows for that and I can use the app or the TV with a Fire Stick. I just say "workout lighting" into my Fire Stick remote and my lights are ready. Aesthetically, these are not as nice as a more premium brand, but they are on the ceiling and good enough. For the price and functionality, you can't go wrong. No flickering, easy to install and good enough color schemes

I have several smart lights and smart devices throughout my home. I bought this pack of 4 Amazon Basics lights for my wife’s office.
1st try 1 of them was working, 2 said “unresponsive” and the 4th light never showed up. All of them came on with the power switch. During the process of trying to get the two unresponsive lights to work, the one working light went unresponsive. After about 6 times of deleting the devices and performing the factory reset and trying to add them, I am about ready to give up. I’m going to have a drink, calm down and try one more time, tomorrow. If they don’t connect tomorrow they are going to be returned.
All of my outdoor cameras and outdoor lights are smart and connected to Alexa, as are several indoor lights and outlets. Also my 3 air conditioners (Arizona). These 4 lights should have been a walk in the park. I will probably return them and buy a different brand.
Update: all 4 said ‘successfully added and ready to use”. All 4 showed “unresponsive”. Alexa also said devices were not responding. I give up.

Works with Amanzon Alexa very well. I would buy it again.

I am sure this would work well as a stand alone, but I bought this put in the spot in front of my TV, it is controlled by a switch and part of a group of 5 lights. However whenever I dim all the lights, this light will flicker and lose its wifi connection. At that point it won't reconnect in the Alexa app, I have had to reset it twice now, it just doesn't work for what I need. I tried setting it to 50% brightness as default, but that didn't work either. Of course it took long enough for all this to come to light (pun intended) for me to miss the return window.

These are the simplest lights to install. We have the old can lights from the 1980s that we have been trying to replace. We replaced part of them last year and I ordered these to start on the other end of the house. These were so much easier that I ordered more. You don't have to take out the old can lights. These will clip right inside the old fixture. It took us less than one minute per light to get it connected.
While playing around with them I realized that I could work Alexa off my Pixel and I could program the lights to come on and off. The system allowed me to program each light then program them together. I feel like a 5 year old, I keep making my lights turn off and on. I love the color features but finally decided on the brightest.
I am very happy with the brightness of the lights, the ease of installation and the quality so far.
